Byron Smith
Byron’s work revolves around his favorite objects and creatures. In particular, apes and robots appear time and again in his work. Often, they pose as sports players or stare ahead while offering objects like flowers or boxes of chocolates to an unseen recipient. Byron’s stark style betrays a sly sense of humor. Byron also devotes considerable time and energy to drawings and sculptures of shoes. The sculptures, which can appear on a surprisingly large scale, playfully explode the severity of his drawing style.
