Michael Pellew
Michael Pellew (b. 1979) has lived in Brooklyn since his childhood and maintained a studio practice with LAND since 2005. Pellew describes his sculptures, drawings, and paintings as a way for him to “explore the world… of pop culture” and “never say die to heavy metal.” Infused with casual humor, clever characters, and spontaneity, Pellew’s work is as fresh as it is entertaining. His subject matter ranges from pop portraits of his favorite singers and performers — “punk funk freaks from the East Village and around the Tri-State area” — to narrative strips that capture a sense of Pellew’s style and playful ruminations.
